Probably the biggest controversy of all time is whether there is a God.
Many people believe that something needs to be seen before it can be believed. They look to science for the answers to life's questions. The most widely accepted (often only accepted) explanation of how everything got started is Charles Darwin's Theory of Evolution. They say this theory proves that there is no God who created everything. (The word THEORY, in layman's terms, means that an idea sounds good to a bunch of scientists but has never been proven. When a theory is proven, it becomes "Scientific Law.")
That is not what Darwin was saying at all. In his book "Origin of Species", in the last paragraph, Darwin says that life itself was "first breathed by the Creator." CHARLES DARWIN BELIEVED IN A CREATOR!!!
Albert Einstein is another well respected scientist. He came up with a theory of a static universe, infinitely large and infinitely old (no beginning). He had to change his relativity equations to get them to fit, and when he was proven wrong, he was quoted as saying that it was "the greatest mistake of my life." He then accepted the necessity of a beginning and a superior reasoning power.
People don't get it. They point to science to show there is no "Creator" or "superior reasoning power" in an effort to remove God from science classes, while the scientists they point to were BELIEVERS!!!
Most theologians (people trained in and who study the Bible) don't discount the theory of planets and cells and stuff evolving, saying that these are explanations of how God created them. And Darwin seems to agree, looking at his earlier quote.
Is The Bible Accurate?
The Bible is the center of Christianity. Those who don't want to believe that there is a God and that Christ arose from the dead try to prove the Bible wrong.
The Bible is a collection of documents that were written over a 1500 year period by more than 40 people on three different continents in three different languages. Many controversial subjects are covered, many stories are told before, during, and after they happened, often by more than one author. Yet, no part of it truly contradicts, and no part has been proven wrong. To have a collection of books that is written by even a couple people on even a single controversial subject in the same place and time and language and to have them agree on every point is virtually impossible. Only with divine intervention could such a work as the Bible be possible.
Some people point to the different translations and the fact that it was handed down through the generations has changed it. For centuries translators have tried to find mistakes in the various versions and haven't found any. While some modern translations are better than others, the accuracy of most cannot be disputed.
The Old Testament had been checked against the oldest available clay tablets and papyri available. Then not long ago the Dead Sea scrolls were found. These were over 1000 years years older than the oldest copies, and upon translation have shown that the Bible had been copied extremely accurately. The Dead Sea scrolls date just after the events took place.
The New Testament was completed in AD 80, only 50 years after the death of Jesus. To find documents from a time so long ago that are that close to when the original was written is unheard of. Other literary works from that period are accepted as being accurate even if the oldest copies are dated 1,000 to 2,200 years after they were originally written, yet the same people refuse to accept the Bible, even though there are no gaps between the time it was originally written and the oldest copies.
Historians and archeologists have searched back through time without using the Bible as a reference, and when they release what they've found, it is found in the Bible. The more they learn of history, the more they prove the Bible to be correct. They now use the Bible to help understand what they uncover about history.
Does the growth of sin prove God exists?
Christians have to look no further than the growth of sin as proof that the Bible is true. As we see in "The Opponent", the Bible predicts the rise of sin, and in devil worship. The fact that Satan worship is growing and becoming more accepted is also proof, Satan and his followers believe in God and choose to oppose Him.
Why doesn't God show himself and prove He exists?
God does not force us to believe in Him, or to love Him or follow Him. If He forced us, it wouldn't mean anything. He wants us to truly believe, love and follow Him, then it is genuine.
People who question whether there is a God or not are called agnostics. They are searching for God. God promises to give them the knowledge of Him.
Jam 1:5 But if any man among you is without wisdom, let him make his request to God, who gives freely to all without an unkind word, and it will be given to him.
Most agnostics do not look very hard, not considering it important to find out one way or the other.
People who think there is no God are called atheists. Atheists affirm there is no God, but to know that, you need knowledge of the entire universe and everything in it. No human has that knowledge, so nobody can say that God does not exist. As the saying goes, if you don't believe there is a God, you better be right...
God does not force anyone to believe. Those who do have faith become His children.
Joh 3:16 For God had such love for the world that he gave his only Son, so that whoever has faith in him may not come to destruction but have eternal life.
Once
you choose to be saved, you will know. Though Satan may put doubts in a
Christian's mind from time to time, those who have faith will feel His
presence in their lives, and there is no disputing that.
More than 2000 years ago there was a man born contrary to the laws of life. This man lived in poverty and was reared in obscurity. He did not travel extensively - only once did he cross the boundary of which he lived and that was during his exile at childhood. He possessed neither wealth nor influence. His relatives were inconspicuous and had neither training or formal education.

The Bible itself was never intended to be a science or history textbook, and therefore does not go into great detail about how and when things happened. Some think it's lack of scientific detail is a reason to believe it is not true. The purpose of the Bible is to explain God's purpose and relation to man and to show man how to have a personal relationship with Him. Looking to it to answer every scientific question is like studying a math book to learn about American History.
