The ISRS series celebrated its 18th anniversary and rolled off at two old favorites that we have run every year since the beginning. Eldora's high banks have hosted IDRS (and now NASCAR Truck) races every yeat of our existence, and it was the first track created for the series. It was a close one, and after 50 laps Mike Howard edged Dave Russell (who became involved with the IDRS in 1997ish when his website displaying the art of sim racing highlighted the series) Mike Miller finshed third.
Martinsville was our first short track, and has been used in late model events and all three NASCAR divisions every season. We even ran a non-points IndyCar race there. Mike Spinelli was in the lead after 50 laps at the flat paperclip, followed by Mike Howard and Mike Miller. Mike Miller had the highest overall Race Average Speed and wins Speedweek.
The sports cars were in France for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, an event that speaks for itself. Matt Shinoski was the class of the field finishing the marathon 6 mph ahead of second place. It sounds like Matt chose Audi power.
This week the ARCA series returns with the 200 miler at Daytona. This series uses the same rules as the NASCAR series, and includes pit stops and caution flags. This is for realism, and also to keep our skills sharp during the off-season. And to give the newcomer experience.
And last but not least the sports car series heads to Watkins Glen. This historic course hosted the US Grand Prix, USAC, CART, and IRL IndyCar events, and now hosts NASCAR. One common gthread in its history is the sports car races. We are using the "Boot". the full course. The NASCAR version is shortened and not allowed. This is the version we used in IndyCar and Vintage Indy.
Series racing is back and warming up the winter. Good luck at Daytona, and Watkins Glen boot!
